Open Board Member Positions

 

Student Engagement Liaison

Role: The Student Engagement Liaison shall work closely with higher ed institutions, NOMAS Chapters, and their respective AEC affiliated organizations to promote opportunity for professional advancement, networking, and community.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate as the primary point of contact between NOMA|nw and NOMAS UW 

  • Maintain a comprehensive calendar of NOMAS UW’s programming schedule in juxtaposition to their academic calendar 

  • Provide opportunities for NOMAS leadership to be engaged within our professional network. This can include but is not limited to: 

    • Portfolio Reviews 

    • Studio Review 

    • Mock Interviews 

    • Office Tours 

  • Administer and grow our Annual Student Scholarship 

  • Foster relationships within the College of the Built Environment at the University of Washington 

  • Coordinate across other chapter committees as they relate to student engagement 

  • Coordinate with the West Region University Liaison on best practices for student support 

  • Seek opportunities for us to support the development of new NOMAS Chapters in colleges/universities throughout Washington State 

Time Commitment / Accountability:

  • Approximately 4-6 hrs per month, with heavy programming during Black/AANHPI/Hispanic Heritage Months (Feb/May/Sept-Oct): 

    • Attendance to all NOMA|nw led student events, and NOMAS UW events when possible 

    • Monthly Board Meeting – 1.5 hrs In-person (virtual available when needed) 

    • Monthly NOMAS UW Check Ins – Est. 1 hour/mo (subject to NOMAS UW schedule agreements) 

    • Quarterly Open Chapter Meetings (2 hrs In-Person) 

    • Annual Board Retreat – One weekend in November (Fri-Sun, In-Person) 

  • Shall report directly to the Executive Board  

Qualifications:

  • Preference for NOMAS alumni and/or professionals that have ties to higher education 

  • Excels in time management and organization to plan proactively and meet deadlines 

  • Experienced in event planning and developing professional relationships 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
